Announcing Clearbit Connect
Today, we're proud to launch Clearbit Connect, a free extension that surfaces actionable information on the people who email you (including company details) directly alongside your emails in Gmail. Better yet - Connect also lets you find any business email address instantly, even if the person isn't in your address book.
Whenever you open a conversation in Gmail, or hover over an email, we'll search through hundreds of sources from around the web in real-time to insert information about the person (avatar, description, title, and even time zone) directly into Gmail's sidebar. When available, we'll even pull in detailed company information (logo, size, category, etc.). With this, you'll have everything you need to better understand the people you communicate with and write more effective emails.
Finding new contacts
Ever had to trawl the internet looking for someone's email, or try multiple combinations of an email format and hope they don't bounce? We have, and the process sucks. That's why we decided to automate all of that in Connect. We've baked in everything we've learned from seeing millions of emails a month and put it seamlessly into Gmail for any Connect user to generate valid business emails instantly.
In fact, you don't even need to know the person's name! We'll return name, title, location and email from just a company name and title. Simply click on the Clearbit icon in Gmail's compose window to get started.
For months now, we've been tuning Connect with a beta group of 7,000 users who've been sending us a constant stream of bug reports and feature requests. We've iterated and iterated to get to the product we're releasing today, but this is just the start.
Behind the scenes, Connect is powered by our suite of data APIs. Our Enrichment API powers the person & company data in the sidebar, and our Prospector API powers the email finding functionality. This kind of product is only as good as its data, and we have put years of work perfecting the technology working behind the scenes at Clearbit.
That said, data quality is one of the driving forces behind our decision to build Connect - in the rare cases where we do make a mistake we can use the power of the crowd to spot, flag and fix it. In the short time that our beta has been running, our coverage has improved dramatically, and it's only going to get better from here.
Give Connect a try, it's totally free to get started and let us know how you like it!
